For the first time in the company’s history, Chanel has created a public domain which shares the story of the company’s history, as well as the biography of its founder and namesake, Coco Chanel.
The site is divided into a timeline of the biography of Coco and a history of the Chanel company, as well as a video history of its famous perfume, Chanel No. 5, entitled ‘For The First Time.’
The company will continue to supplement the site with additional information and videos, but for now there’s a collection of interesting photographs, historical tidbits, and commercials. The video history of Chanel No. 5 reveals that the perfume was the first to combine multiple fragrances (a total of 80 for this particular scent) and shares the celebrities that lent their image to the famous fragrance, including Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman and Audrey Tautou.
The archives come on the heel of popularity and interest sparked by the film ‘Coco Before Chanel‘, starring Audrey Tautou, in addition to other micro-sites launched by high fashion companies, including Burberry and Valentino.
