PSFK’s creative of the week, chosen from the ARTS THREAD online portfolios, is Nina Lee Lauritzen. Born and raised in Denmark, Lauritzen moved to London to complete a BA in Fashion Design at the University of Westminster, London.
Why we like her work
Although she’s only just graduated, she’s already a seasoned professional having worked with designers such as Chanel in Paris, Alexander Wang in New York and Mulberry in London. Her graduate collection was even sponsored with fabrics by Hermés:
I worked with different types of textiles and used neopreen to quilt and build the lines around the body.
The collection itself drew inspiration from the work of the Austrian artist Egon Schiele’s work, particularly the pieces shown in his ‘Women’ exhibition:
I love his colour palette and I was drawn to the way Schiele illustrates and distorts the woman’s body and the lines within.
What to expect from her in the future
Lauritzen is currently working hard at setting up her very own designer’s studio:
I’m setting up my studio in Battersea and working on a new project with my partner, which will be a small ready-to-wear, sports inspired collection focused on digital prints.
